Terms & Conditions.
If you register a .uk domain name through us, you are also bound by Nominet's terms. Please read section 4 before you register or renew.
1.About us
- These terms are between you and Blackbird Solutions Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 05311917, whose registered office is at Potton House, Wyboston Lakes, Great North Road, Wyboston, Bedford, MK44 3BZ (“Blackbird”, “we”, “us”).
- You can contact us at hello@blackbird.co.uk.
2.Definitions
- Domain Name means any internet domain name we register, renew or manage for you.
- Registry means the organisation that runs the register for a domain extension. For .uk domain names this is Nominet UK.
- Registrant means the person or organisation named as the holder of a Domain Name. For a Domain Name we register for you, this is you.
- Services means domain name registration, renewal and management, DNS, and any hosting or related services we provide to you.
3.Our services
- We act as a registrar (or through a registrar) to register and manage Domain Names on your behalf, and may provide DNS, web and email hosting.
- The specific Services, fees and any service levels will be set out in your order, quote or invoice. If they conflict with these terms, the order, quote or invoice applies.
- Registering a Domain Name gives you the right to use it for the registration period, subject to the Registry's rules. It does not give you ownership of any trade mark or other rights in the name.
4..uk domain names and Nominet's terms
- Nominet UK is the Registry for .uk domain names. When we register or renew a .uk Domain Name for you, you enter into a contract directly with Nominet, and you agree to be bound by Nominet's registrant terms and conditions as amended from time to time.
- Nominet's current terms are called the Terms and Conditions of Domain Name Registration. From 9 February 2027 they will be replaced by the .UK Registrant Terms and Conditions. Both, together with Nominet's other policies, are published at nominet.uk/go/terms.
- Please read Nominet's terms before you register or renew a .uk Domain Name. By asking us to register or renew one, you confirm you have read and accept them.
- Under Nominet's terms you must keep your registration details accurate and up to date, and respond to any request from Nominet to verify them. If you do not, Nominet may suspend or cancel the Domain Name.
- Nominet's privacy notice explains how it uses registration data. It is available on Nominet's website.
- For day-to-day questions about your .uk Domain Name, please contact us first. If you are unhappy with how we have dealt with a matter covered by our agreement with Nominet, you may escalate it to Nominet.
5.Registering a domain name
- Domain Names are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot guarantee that a name is available until the Registry confirms the registration.
- You must give us complete and accurate details for the Registrant, and tell us of any change within 7 days.
- You are responsible for making sure that your choice and use of a Domain Name does not infringe anyone else's rights or break the law.
- We will register the Domain Name in your name as Registrant, unless you ask us in writing to do otherwise.
6.Fees and payment
- Fees for registration, renewal and other Services are as quoted or invoiced to you. Unless stated otherwise, fees exclude VAT.
- Registration and renewal fees are payable in advance. We may decline to register or renew a Domain Name until we have received payment.
- Domain registration and renewal fees are non-refundable once the Registry has processed the registration or renewal.
7.Renewal and expiry
- Each Domain Name is registered for a fixed period and must be renewed before it expires.
- We will send at least one renewal reminder to the contact email address we hold for you at least 30 days before the Domain Name expires. Please keep that address up to date.
- Unless agreed otherwise, we will renew a Domain Name only once you have confirmed you want it renewed and paid the renewal fee. If you have an agreement with us to renew automatically, we will renew it and invoice you.
- If a Domain Name is not renewed by its expiry date, it will go through the Registry's expiry process. This may mean the Domain Name and any services using it (such as your website and email) stop working, and the name is then cancelled and becomes available for anyone to register.
- A Domain Name that has expired may still be renewed during the Registry's expiry period, but once the Registry has cancelled it, we cannot guarantee it can be recovered.
8.Transfers
- You may move a Domain Name to another registrar at any time. For .uk Domain Names, ask your new registrar for their Nominet tag (IPS tag) and ask us to change it. We will action this promptly once any outstanding fees for that Domain Name are paid.
- To change the Registrant of a .uk Domain Name to someone else, a registrant transfer must be completed under Nominet's rules. We can help you with this.
- We will not unreasonably delay or refuse a transfer.
9.Domain name disputes
- Disputes about who should hold a .uk Domain Name are dealt with under Nominet's Dispute Resolution Service (DRS) Policy. Disputes filed on or after 7 July 2026 are administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
- By registering a .uk Domain Name, you agree to take part in the DRS if a complaint is made about your Domain Name, and to be bound by any decision made under it.
- We are not a party to any dispute about who should hold a Domain Name. We will act on decisions made by the Registry, the DRS or a court.
10.Hosting and acceptable use
- You must not use the Services, or any Domain Name we manage, for anything unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or that infringes anyone's rights. This includes sending spam, distributing malware and phishing.
- You are responsible for the content of your websites and emails, and for keeping your passwords and account details secure.
- We may suspend a Service, or ask the Registry to suspend a Domain Name, if we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of this section, or if we are required to by law, the Registry or the police.
- You are responsible for keeping your own backups of website content and email, unless backup is included in your Service.
11.Your data
- We use your personal data to provide the Services, manage your account and meet our legal and Registry obligations, in line with UK data protection law.
- To register a Domain Name, we must pass Registrant details to the relevant Registry (for .uk Domain Names, Nominet). The Registry may publish some details or disclose them where permitted by its policies and the law.
- We will not sell your personal data. To ask about the data we hold about you, contact hello@blackbird.co.uk.
12.Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
- We are not liable for any loss of profit, revenue, business, data or goodwill, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- We are not liable for any act or failure of a Registry, or for loss of a Domain Name caused by your failure to renew it or keep your details up to date.
- Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us for the relevant Service in that period.
13.Ending the service
- You may end a Service at any time by telling us in writing. Fees already paid are not refundable, and a Domain Name will stay registered to you until it expires unless you transfer it.
- We may end a Service by giving you at least 30 days' notice. We may end it immediately if you seriously breach these terms or do not pay what you owe.
- When a Service ends, we will give you reasonable help to move any Domain Name to another registrar.
14.Complaints
- If you are unhappy with our Services, please email hello@blackbird.co.uk. We will acknowledge your complaint and try to resolve it as quickly as we can.
- For .uk Domain Names, if you are not satisfied with our response, you may refer the matter to Nominet. Details are on Nominet's website.
15.Changes to these terms
- We may update these terms from time to time. If we change any key terms, we will tell you before the change applies to you, and before your next renewal. The current version will always be on this page.
16.Governing law
- These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
